MUSKOGEE SPEEDWAY

TRACK SPECIFICATIONS:

Track Distance: 1/2 mile
Track Banking: 16 degrees
MUSKOGEE SPEEDWAY OVERVIEW:
Muskogee is not a true oval and is slightly egg shaped. It is 1/2 mile in length with 16 degrees of banking. There is one very fast groove here and it is the reason you will see a huge disparity of times online, if you don't hit it just right it will cost you 4 to 5 tenths. The key to going fast here is to keep yourself just above the dark dirt that is the lowest line. Getting into the darker dirt at the bottom of the track will slow you down significantly. The only spot where you should come off the bottom of the track is at the start/finish line. You should diamond the s/f line in order to maintain your speed going into the first corner.
DRIVING TIPS:

Starting off when the flag drops can be tricky here as a lot of people will run very loose setups and until their tires are up to temp they will be squirrely. If you are in the front row you can start off here wide open with the setup I have provided. It should get you a lead and allow you to setup the next corner without somebody all over you. On your second time around you will want to approach the s/f very high up close to the wall and set the first corner up at wide open throttle. Once you get to the turn let off the gas, turn in slightly to keep on the groove just above the dark dirt and once you are pointed in the right direction get back on the throttle.(see the line graph) You should be able to drive through the rest of the corner wide open and get yourself lined up on the next straight. You may want to drift a little high at the end of the straight in order to get a straighter shot at the next corner which is the longer of the egg shape. Again lift off of the gas just before the corner, steer in slightly and get back on the gas staying right beside the dark dirt. You should exit up high on the s/f and diamond the car back down.

MUSKOGEE SPEEDWAY SETUP:

The setup that is included was done with a dry wet of 50% and it should remain fairly neutral. If you push it hard you will get some very fast laps but it will be very hard on your tires, leaving you with little at the end of a heat. It is meant for shorter heat races and harder compound tires will be required on the rear for longer races. The handling characteristics will change if you use harder compound tires until they have got worn and up to temperature. Use the tire wear option in the setup in order to turn this feature on. Tires will gradually go from green to red as they wear use this as a tuning tool! As you can see I was able to run some very fast laps here with a best of 18.42. You will have to adjust to your driving style with some fine tuning to get your best times but this should give you an idea what is required.
